Bye Bye FEMA

Evacuating FEMA one disaster at a time….

The Committee of Environmental and Public Works are adamant that FEMA is responding slowly to the natural disasters happening in our country. Liberals and Conservatives say that FEMA is ineffective. Both parties wonder what can be done.

There is bipartisan support that getting rid of FEMA is not the answer to the group’s slow responses as well as ineffective methods. They agree with the idea that FEMA should place supplies, aid, and personnel in more localized places as well as taking responsibility for predicting a disaster and making the public aware of that problem. The general sense is that FEMA must provide immediate aid after the catastrophe has occurred.

When the Democrats were asked if the government should take money out of Haiti and Indonesian relief and put it towards the reformed FEMA group, their tone was resolute that since FEMA has a multi-million dollar budget, all money should still be kept in these countries to provide relief.

The Republicans on the other hand made it clear that even though those two disasters are devastating and do need help, the US can only provide so much aid. A Republican representative made it clear that there comes a point when we have to start looking out for our fellow Americans and the help they need due to many natural disasters here in the states.

There is a definite agreement that FEMA needs to change immediately. Responding to this statement Republicans and Democrats came to the final question; how many more un- aided disasters can this country take?
