The Blue Print
on West Wing:
The determination of a system for health care in the United States is slowly approaching its end. Both the RNC and the White House have been planning ways to organize the system to facilitate Americans in obtaining the least expensive and the best quality health care possible.
The Republican National Committee is skeptical of a universal system, which would allow citizens of the US to have the best access they can. They said that “health care is a gamble” and want the state governments to have absolute power in the allocation of money and resources. This would lead to unequal coverage across state lines, which may cause tension between state governments.
The White House has recognized the need for a federal universal health care plans, and describes the RNC’s plan as “flawed.” Though they believe it would be best to give the federal government absolute power in the creation of a health care system, they have proposed the idea of a compromise between the two plans. The White House has said that they need to lower the standards so the Republicans will agree. This would allow legislation to finally get passed and give millions of Americans health care coverage.
The Director of Communications for the White House ensures Americans that he is working hard to make this plan as appealing to the public as possible. Though there are no specifics on the compromised plan, the White House and the RNC participated in a meeting that Stanley Kay, the Press Liaison for the White House, described as “productive.” The White House clarified what they are and are not going to compromise on for the plan. “After all,” he said, “Democrats are the majority leader.” Kay said that the RNC must stop making demands to allow a compromise to be made.
The meetings will continue until a final verdict has been reached. As the Director of Communications of the White House said, “health care should not be a gamble.”
