on Agriculture:
With the eruption of Mount Sinabung, the agricultural developments and production rates throughout the entire world have decreased. Just because the United States is half way around the world from where the eruption toke place doesn’t mean it is okay to neglect the fact that we are suffering with crop production decline too. The West Wing has many different ideas and opinions on how to deal with this pressured situation.
Both parties agree that this issue is on the top of their priority list. They also both think that we should send aid to Sumatra, but we should mostly focus on the United States crop production because we need to feed our citizens.
The main idea of the Democratic Party is to continue with the new “Green” technology. They believe that we should come up with new farming methods to help the farmers continue production , but we should also keep up with the projects to make farming more green and environmentally friendly. Since we are currently in an economic crisis the Democrats want to ask some of the green organizations to help fund these new green technologies. If the organizations do not agree to fund these projects they plan to just fund them ourselves through taxes and other government money, even though we are having serious economic troubles. Surprisingly, the Democrats decided to join in on the Republican idea of putting our domestic needs before helping the island of Sumatra.
The main Republican views are all about putting the U.S. citizens first. They want to take care of our people. The Republican Party believes that it would be an intelligent decision to put some of the green-farming projects on hold right now, such as the Ethanol-Fuel Crop project. The Republicans have a strong belief that we should do what ever it takes to provide our American people with the crops and livestock that they need.
With tensions rising between the White House and the RNC, it will not be easy to come to a conclusion as fast as is necessary. It will be interesting to see what happens.
